Sitting Bull was a proud chief of the Hunkpapa tribe of the Lakota Sioux Native Americans. His kindness, his skills as a warrior, and his tendency to think carefully before acting led him to be a well-respected leader. He fought tirelessly against the United States government over possession of the Great Sioux Nation's sacred homeland. Best known for taking part in the Battle of the Little Bighorn, where his warrirs confronted Lieutenant Colonel George Custer, Sitting Bull was involved in many conflicts during his inspirational struggle to preserve the Native American way of life.
