When twelve-year-old aspiring scientist Zinnia Manning's older brother, Gabriel, is diagnosed with bipolar disorder, it turns her family's world upside-down, especially since they are keeping the information private. Zinnia struggles when she can't talk to her best friends, and she can't betray her family's secret in the Lunch Club run by the school guidance counselor. The only thing Zinnia likes is science class, but when she's accepted into a special summer program, she must chose between her family who needs her and her own hopes and dreams.
