In 1930s colonial Malaysia, Ji Lin, a young dance-hall girl and apprentice dressmaker, discovers a severed finger that a young servant boy is desperately seeking. The boy, eleven-year-old Ren, is seeking the finger of his dead master and knows he has forty-nine days to bury it with the man or his soul will wander the Earth as a ghost. As the two repeatedly cross paths, strange occurrences begin to happen, from unexplained deaths to reports of men turning into tigers.
