When Abdel Latif, an old man, dies peacefully in a hospital in Damascus, his final wish told to Bolbol, his youngest son, leads to a family quest to bring Abdel's body back to their family's plot in the ancestral village of Anabiya. The only problem is their country has become a war zone, and the siblings--Bolbol, Hussein, and Fatima--find themselves harassed by militias, captured, released, and recaptured and re-released by different warring factions until their quest becomes a dark and often absurd comedy.
