Tim is a sophomore in a high school on the tough streets of Newark. With an alcoholic father who recently left the family, his home life can be rough. Already two years behind in school, Tim struggles to read and tries to fight the rage that boils inside his frustration with life and academics. But a fight with some gang members in his neighborhood leads to the death of another boy, and now Tim has to find a way back from the brink.
