Presents the life of track and field athlete Jesse Owens focusing on his childhood, family, education, Coach Riley,and the Great Depression. Later Jesse tried out for the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and discovered he was not ready to run at that level. But somewhat later he kept training, breaking some world records and tying others, and then Jesse entered Ohio State University in 1933 and prepared to qualify at the trials in New City and left for the Olympics in Germany where American won only sixty-six medals.
