Twelve-year-old Joan has parents that don't get along, a brother who is mean and, to top it off, has to move from her home in Connecticut to suburban California. When Joan meets Sarah, a young girl who calls herself Fox and lives with her biker father in an old house in the woods, her attitude starts to change. The two girls form an immediate friendship, and they openly share their inner conflicts. Fox forces Joan to look at the truth and the importance of being true to oneself.
