Genetically bred and born to be perfect and deathless, Pia has known no other life except the sterile environment of her scientific compound. For seventeen years she was totally on board with her scientist creators, seeking to learn enough to continue their work when they were gone. However, on her seventeenth birthday, Pia discovers a hole in the barrier of her compound--she sees the outside world for the first time, and meets Eio, a boy from a nearby village in the Amazon rainforest. Slowly Pia and Eio fall in love, and for the first time Pia wonders if there is a downside to living forever.
