Micay is a little girl living in the Incan city of Machu Picchu. She considers herself hideous, with a scar like a river running from her right eye to her mouth--everyone ignores her because of it, and she hides it with her hair. When a stranger from the jungle comes to the mountain city, he gives Micay a baby macaw, and her life changes forever.
