With her mother recently deceased and her father gone since her birth, Amelia suddenly finds herself in charge of not only her younger brother and sister, but also the family gas station. The Great Depression is in effect and things are tough. When Harley Blevins, of the rival Standard Oil, comes to buy the station, Amelia bravely refuses. The only way to save the family business is to find herself a father, real or fictional, who can hold off Blevins and keep her siblings out of foster care until she comes of age.
