Golden Maroni, twelve, has heard it said that it takes 10,000 hours to become a master at any skill, and this summer he finds that he has a lot of things to master. First, he wants to become captain of his school soccer team so he can be like Messi, his hero; second, he vows to put in 10,000 hours to finding a way to stop his best friend Lucy from moving; and third and most importantly, he hopes to put in the hours to help his dad, once a professional soccer player, defeat his muscle-degenerating ALS.
