Two young men on opposing sides of a war learn about themselves and the meaning of being a part of a country. In 1874 the Red River War is raging. Private Washington Vance Jr., an African American cavalry man, is sent to fight. Meanwhile a Cheyenne warrior named Wolf meets him in battle, and an unlikely friendship forms.
