When President Theodore Roosevelt learned of John Muir's efforsts to preserve America's forests, he planned a trip to the majestic sequoia and redwood forests of California to meet him. The two men experienced the camping trip of a lifetime as they slept under the great sequoias. Roosevelt so savored the experience that, when he returned to the White House, he implemented laws to preserve what became America's natiional parks.
