After Geraldine Coutts is attacked on her reservation in North Dakota, she refuses to give details of what happened to anyone including the police, her husband, and her thirteen-year-old son, Joe. Geraldine slowly withdraws from life and Joe vows to find her attacker. As Joe and his friends search for the culprit, their quest for justice leads them to the Round House, a sacred place of worship for the Ojibwe.
