Just as spiders spin their webs, Louise Bourgeois's mother was a weaver of tapestries. Before Louise became a world-renowned contemporary artist, she was an apprentice in her family's tapestry shop. Weaving fabric with her nurturing mother taught Louise about form and color, and procided the inspiration for her later, most famous works as a sculptor.
