Ismet Prcic travels from wartorn Bosnia to make a new life in America, in California's southern region. There he is forced to confront his memories and past and finds it hard to adjust to his new life. Counseled to write everything down, Ismet begins keeping a journal of memories and jumbled emotions, spiralling out of control until he seems to assume an alternate personal named Mustafa, and from there it is not clear which life Ismet is really living.
